Dues Payment Begins In July
Dues time is upon us again. We will begin accepting dues payments on July 1, 2014. Current dues must be paid by Monday, October 10th. A late charge for reinstatement will be charged after that. This year’s dues are still only $40.00. This is a very small contribution for the benefits gained. Checks should be made payable to the Army and Navy Club and mailed to the Club in care of Ken Shirshac, Financial Secretary, 1090 Main Street, Manchester, CT. 06040.
SUGGESTION: Consider this your bill for your dues, so put this bill in your bill basket to be paid.

Glad to be back. Many thanks to all of the people that supported me on my loss.
The change of life that comes after losing someone for over 50 years is drastic, but when all is said and done, I am reminded that the night of life is but the herald of the everlasting day. The club is seeing quite a few changes. Norman, our bartender quit and went to northern Maine, and Bruce Zitko is the new bartender. He also got help from a pretty female named Jen. The club is getting a spiffy cleaning from the new custodian, Ed Tryon and his wife. Bingo has new callers and Josh is manning the office duties. We are also in the midst of working with many people and organizations on switching from oil to natural gas heating. It is at the top of the list because the club can not survive another winter like last. The infrastructure is very old and costly to replace, and we are working very hard to accomplish that. With the membership at just under 300, it’s not an easy task. Next month we have a setback tournament on the first of August, followed by Cruisen on Main Street on August 3, 2014. The golf league finishes up and the setback tournament is on the 1st of August. The setback League will start on the first Monday after labor day. The dart league appears to be coming back. Hall rentals are picking up, especially on Sundays. Our bartender Bruce is refreshing the bar with new liquors and reinstatements are increasing. We still have a lot of fun inside the club and forget about what’s going on outside for a while. I look at the new world order and see more and more being controlled by less and less, but no matter how cleverly you arrange a basket of rotten eggs, you still come out with a bad omelet. Well this one is short. But have a good summer, watch out for the storms, and stay safe. Many happy returns from all the officers of the club for birthdays and other celebrations, and until next time, have a good month and have a good life.
